SOME FOOD FOR THOUGHT.....

A photographic website should not really have a political opinion associated with it. However, I feel compelled to say to the government -
YOU GOT IT WRONG!
'The Ark' was a fully functioning platform honed to perfection. She had already had her refit to last her to the end of her days.
Illustrious was still having hers but would be unable to operate fixed wing assets.
Would you leave your house uninsured and unprotected?
HMS Ark Royal was part of the UK's insurance and protection.
Remember the Falklands?
Withdrawing ships was seen as an act of weakness and swiftly taken advantage of!
The famous Irish Statesman and Philosopher, Edmund Burke said "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it." and
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
General Sir David Richards said "The national security of the UK and our allies is, in my judgement, at stake."
So, to the British Government who is gambling with our national security, 'I hope that those words do not come back to haunt you!'
OOPS! LIBYA!

The 3rd of December 2010 was a cold, dark, snowy and foggy day as 'The Ark' entered harbour.
It mirrored the feelings of the people of Portsmouth as, gathered in their thousands, they watched
and cheered in disbelief as the pride of the Royal Navy came home for the final time
